Puppy Parties

Socialisation is a very important part of any puppy's upbringing. We run a course of puppy 'parties' which are aimed at allowing your puppy to socialise with other puppies of a similar age in a safe environment. We also cover some of the basics, such as:Murphy Cavanagh

  • toilet training,
  • insurance,
  • weight and diet,
  • grooming/nail clipping/dental care
  • and of course, socialisation.

As well as being able to socialise with other puppies, our hope is that the course will mean that your puppy will have a good association with visiting the vet (reinforced by treats and cuddles of course). Please call us on 01483 566322 if you would like to join us, your puppy must have had it's first vaccination.

How We Work

  • We work by an appointments system in order to keep waiting times to a minimum and to ensure that the right person is available to see your pet. Pet Doctors 003
  • We have consultation appointments available every day from 9am-11am and starting again at 4pm-6.40pm. And on Wednesdays and Thursdays our consulting times are longer to ensure that we have a time to suit every client.
  • However, we don't close for lunch so we are here from 8am-7pm so if you need advice or have an emergency then we are always  here!
  • Please be aware that although we open at 8am there will not always be a vet available at that time.
  • There is also a 'Pre-Op' slot in the mornings, between 8.30am-9.30am to ensure that if your animal is booked in for an operation, the vet who will be doing the procedure does the pre-op check for your pet and is available to answer any questions that you may have.
  • We have a weekly rota to ensure that operating and dog and cat consulting time is shared equally between the two vets. If you have a preference as to which vet you see, don't be afraid to ask when you book your appointment!

Weekends

  • As we are open seven days a week and from 8am-7pm during the week, we do have to rely on a rota of all of the Pet Doctors vets at weekends.  The vets who cover at the weekends are all Pet Doctors staff so it may be the vet from our Woking or Shalford branch, but they are all highly qualified and care about our patients as much as we do.
  • If you would like to see a particular vet at a weekend, it is possible, but you will need to book in advance.
  • We do get very booked up at weekends, so while we are open as normal, please bear this in mind if you would like to book a routine appointment.

Prescriptions

A prescription medication can only be prescribed by a veterinary surgeon. In addition, your pet must be under the care of a veterinary surgeon in order for them to prescribe a medication. The RCVS recommends, and it is our policy, that ‘under our care’ means that the animal must have been seen in the last 6 months. This means that your pet will need 6 monthly health checks with a vet in order for us to prescribe a medication. These health checks are for us to ensure that your pet is in the best health possible, that the medication is the most effective and that is still being prescribed at the correct dose. A health check is £32.99.

Repeat Prescriptions

To help us provide you with a high quality level of service, please telephone us 24 hours (one working day) in advance of collecting your prescription. This will allow us to ensure that we have the correct product in stock and have it ready for you. This will avoid any disappointment and time wasted on your part.

Celia Cross Greyhound Rescue

We do all of the veterinary work for the Celia Cross Greyhound Rescue. We have a great relationship with Jane who runs the rescue, she does an amazing job rehoming all of the lovely dogs that go through the centre. Most of the dogs are ex-racers and they are all beautiful, gentle dogs who make wonderful pets. Even the greyhounds who have been mistreated are so friendly and accepting when they come to visit us, they really do make the heart melt and it is difficult not to take them all home!Find out more about Celia Cross at: http://www.celiacross.org.uk/ or have a look on their facebook page which is updated daily.
