The practice provides 24 hour cover, 365 days a year for our clients. If you have an EMERGENCY, OR NEED URGENT ADVICE, first telephone the Newport hospital. You will hear a recorded message which will give you the telephone number of the duty vet. Night and weekend emergencies are seen by special appointment at Newport.

Emily Knight MRCVS
Veterinary Surgeon
Emily qualified at Liverpool University and worked in mixed practice until she joined Pet Doctors in December 2009. Emily enjoys all aspects of her job but has a particular interest in medicine and dermatology (skin conditions). Emily is married to John Knight, our veterinary surgeon at Ryde and they share their home with their cat, Jervaulx. Emily's interests include gardening, sailing and she is an active member of the Apex Church in Cowes.

Neil Phillips MRCVS
Veterinary Surgeon
Neil qualified from the Royal Veterinary College, London in 1984. His special interest is in small animal surgery especially orthopaedics. Neil is the proud owner of 2 black Labradors, one horse and one wife! His interests include horse riding, yoga and venturing out on the high seas in his boat!

Matthew Twitchett MRCVS
Veterinary Surgeon
Matthew qualified from the University of Bristol in 2000. He is particularly interested in exotics and since gaining a Masters in Wild Animal Health in 2006 Matthew has worked at various zoos and practices around the world. Matthew now divides his time between working for Pet Doctors and caring for the animals at the Isle of Wight Zoo. At home he has a pair of Standings Day Geckos.

Jayne Merryweather-Lewis ANA RVN A1
Head Veterinary Nurse
Jayne is a qualified veterinary nurse and has worked at Pet Doctors for 9 years. She enjoys many aspects of her job but has a special interest in diagnostic imaging, especially ultrasound. Outside of work, Jayne has recently taken up horse riding which she is finding a challenge and fun.

Veterinary Nurse
Alison has been nursing since 2006, where she trained for 4 years and graduated from The Royal Veterinary College. She has continued to cultivate a keen interest in Surgical Nursing and animal behavior. Alison is hoping to further her knowledge by taking a Diploma in Advanced Veterinary NursingAlison has been nursing since 2006, where she trained for 4 years and graduated from The Royal Veterinary College. Alison is hoping to further her knowledge by taking a Diploma in Advanced Veterinary NursingAlison joined us in May 2009 as a trainee, progressing to full time since completing her degree in July 2010.Alison has always had a keen interest in animals, due to being bought up on a farm and also from competing horses. Alison enjoys horse riding, competing nationally to a high level, and most recently has taken to a new venture, Sailing. Alison lives in Whitwell with her 5 year old English Springer ‘Bracken’.

Frances, who originally trained to be a zoo keeper, joined Pet Doctors in August 2008. Frances shares her home with 2 labradors, 1 terrier, 1 cat, 1 horse, and her husband and their daughter. In her spare time she enjoys horse riding.

Danielle has a real passion for working with animals and enjoys meeting our clients. Danielle shares her home with a lovely little Yorkshire Terrier called Hugo and two cats-Ginger and Dave.
