  • John Knight BVSc MRCVS

John qualified as a veterinary surgeon from Liverpool University. In January 2010 (having been told it never snowed on the Isle of Wight) he moved to the island to start at our Newport Hospital to be greeted by several inches of snow! After six months he moved to the Ryde Clinic and have been there ever since. He shares his home with wife Emily and a cat called Jervaulx.

  • Jill Proctor MRCVS

Jill qualified as a veterinary surgeon from Bristol University in 1988. Her first job was at a practice in the New Forest. She then moved to the Island and has worked in our Ryde clinic ever since. Jill is particularly interested in feline medicine. She currently works part-time and helps with the veterinary nurses' training. She lives on a small-holding just outside Ryde with her husband Mark, their 2 children Tom and Issy and an assortment of household pets and animals.

  • Gillian Kelly MRCVS

    Veterinary Surgeon

Gillian, who grew up on the island, qualified as a veterinary surgeon from the Royal Veterinary College, London, in 2007. After qualifying she came back to the island and has worked at the Ryde clinic ever since. She has a keen interest in oncology and dermatology, and also enjoys treating exotics, in particular rodents. She lives just outside Ryde with her partner, Joe, their two dogs - Doug and Morris - and five chickens.

  • Diane Chrismas RVN

Diane qualified as a veterinary nurse in 2001 and became an assessor for training veterinary nurses in 2003. She also holds a City & Guilds Certificate in the Nursing of Exotic Species for which she has a particular interest. Diane shares her home with her dog Rocky, a rabbit and two guinea pigs. She also owns a giant plated lizard and a leopard gecko who are still living with her Mum on the mainland!

Kay began nursing at our Ryde Practice in July 2002. Before this I gained three and a half years of nursing experience at another Island practice then called Beckingham & Thomas. The partners/practice eventually merged and this is now the Pet Doctors Animal Hospital in Newport. Kay is currently studying a Level 3 Diploma in Veterinary Nursing at Sparsholt College in Winchester. She owns a much loved, elderly Border Terrier/Jack Russell cross who was born in August 1996. They still enjoy their walks together although they do take a little longer than they used to!
