Braveheart of the Month
Jan 20, 2012
Bobby is a 9 year old male neutered West Highland White Terrier, who has always had ear trouble. Recently, we elected to surgically remove his outer ear canal with an operation called a total ear canal ablation or TECA, performed by Pip Bulman and Karen Scott. He has always been a wonderful congenial patient and despite all of his ups and downs post operatively, we are proud to have him as our ‘Braveheart of the Month’.
He had his surgery performed on 1st Dec 2011 and did incredibly well, being bright and spritely enough to go that night after his incredible ear amputation. Unfortunately, he developed a postoperative problem which caused a section of his remaining ear flap to die off. He had repeated surgery performed to remove all the dead tissue and came to see us twice a week until the middle of January for maunka honey dressing to cover over his partially opened wound.
He charmed us all with his happy tail and calm demeanour, appearing to enjoy every visit and every dressing change. Finally his ear is healed and his happy tail is wagging even more down to no more pain from his severely infected ear canal that we removed. He looks as handsome as ever and his dad, Mr Walls, is so
happy with his new happy dog.
