Tail Attachment

Q. My cat is perfectly healthy except that she has what looks like some thin, nylon string attached to her tail.  I’ve tried to pull it off but it seems to be firmly attached to her and she now swears when I go anywhere near her tail.  What could this be and what should I do?

A. This should really be checked out by a vet, as soon as possible, I have had cases of fishing lines caught in animals tails. Another possibility is that it is actually part of you cat’s tail tendons that have been damaged in a fight and have been pulled to the outside. Your vet will need to treat the wound and your cat will need a short course of antibiotics to prevent any infection.
